The 2008 Blazing Reel Film Awards

The 2008 Blazing Reel Film Awards

*UNDER CONSTRUCTION*

2008 is one of those years that makes me glad I started these awards because when I look at the five nominees for Best Picture I don’t see a single film that deserves to be there. We have the overrated and mediocre Slumdog Millionaire, the 21st century Forrest Gump (Benjamin Button), the oscar-bait-y Milk and the monotonous garbage that was The Reader. Frost/Nixon is the only good movie in there but even that doesn’t qualify as one of the year’s Top 10 films, for me, let alone the Top 5. Basically, I hate the 2009 Oscars and the only alternative are the 2008 Blazing Reel Film Awards.

  1. Bit unfair The Dark Knight came out that year to steal pretty much everything haha! Love the choice of Colin Farrell for Best Actor for In Bruges!

  2. YES!!!!!! So happy to see all so much love for The Dark Knight. Also happy to see you give Farell the win even though I probably would’ve went with Rourke or del Toro. Not a bad choice among them.

  3. Another totally rad Blazing Reel Awards! Yes… Some love for In Bruges. Bold pick for best actor. I love how I always come away from your Awards with an indie gem I haven’t seen. This time it’s Two Lovers. Thanks, Khalid!

  4. Absolute garbage! Not your awards of course, but the 2008 Oscars. How does Dark Knight not even muster a Best Picture nomination??? I remember almost not watching that year I was so annoyed. Best movie of 2008 hands down.

  5. I can’t believe I missed these!!!!!

Sorry, I’ve been so busy that I must have missed a bunch of stuff I was actually looking out for, and your awards are one of those things.

I don’t want to spoil much, as far as Fistis are concerned…but we match up with our acting wins 4/4!!!!

    LOVE LOVE LOVE these!
