The 2010 Blazing Reel Film Awards

2010 is a year I really love. There were some really fantastic films released this year most of which did no gt their due at the Oscars. The Oscars dropped the ball big time. And by big time I mean, biiiig time, by giving both Best Picture and Best Director (gasp) to The King’s Speech and Tom Hooper. Somehow..some way, Tom Hooper’s lavishly directed stage-play beat David Fincher’s The Social Network which is, and always will be one of the most groundbreaking biopics the tedious biopic genre has ever seen. Best Picture should have quite clearly been between The Social Network and Christopher Nolan’s equally groundbreaking work in the Sci-Fi genre in the form of Inception, but thankfully I’m here to right that wrong and that will not be the case here.

    • Fanning was amazing in Somewhere, I’m going to use your Gandolfini point, it felt like she wasn’t even acting at all. The only reason she didn’t win was because I didn’t like the film itself

  1. Another great Blazing Reel awards show! Some bold selections there. Iike Scott Pilgrim (yes!) And 4 Lions. Now i gotta see that! Thanks. Inception was amazing, but film wise I’d pick Black Swan… just so good for so many reasons. We agree on the Town too. This was a great year for movies.

    • Exactly. 4 Lions is probably one of the best dark comedies ever made, it is just the perfect blend of drama and infectious dark humor, see it!
I was very impressed by some aspects of Black Swan but I don’t think it would make my Top 10 from this year.
